Letter B (and other self-effacing pieces) is pure honkyoku. The pieces are from the repertoire of Yokoyama Katsuya and Chikuho-Ryu. They are all more or less meditation pieces.

Carl plays the shakuhachi, a Japanese end-blown flute with roots in the Zen Buddhist tradition. His solo performances concentrate honkyoku, the Zen Budddhist repertoire. Letter B is exactly this.
